Report Research Workshop 06.03.2023

For the research workshop of the PhD project on 06.03.2023, Philipp Wendland gave a presentation regarding the application for PhD status at the University of Koblenz. In the course of interactive group discussions, comments were incorporated, especially by the professors present. Furthermore, questions from the doctoral students were discussed together in the group.

First, the homepage of Department 4 for doctorates was presented as well as the general structure of the application. One suggestion was to structure the proposal via a short cover letter and a checklist.

The majority of the research workshop was about writing the synopsis. General advice was to use literature software such as Mandeley, Zotero or Citavi, to follow the table in the handout, to write the synopsis in English and to write an abstract.

The structure and content of the exposé was then discussed in detail, in particular sections should be created for the respective sub-objectives.

Finally, the enrolment and the supervision agreement were discussed. Enrolment is recommended, but not compulsory.
